Tips for Buying 4x4 LED Lights for the First Time

· Led Lights

Some might see them as too aggressive and petrol hungry but 4x4 vehicles are an off-roader's best friend. 4X4 vehicles may not be as popular as they once were in the shape and form they are available today, they are no doubt better than 2WD vehicles.  Before mostly pickup trucks and big SUVs had a 4x4 drivetrain but today more and more types of vehicles are making use of a 4x4 drivetrain. 4X4 vehicles are known to have better traction and thus better control in wet conditions.

A 4x4 vehicle also has a lot more passenger space and they are also a lot safer too. Having more control over the wheels allows you to better handle a vehicle even if it's heavier. In fact, that added weight makes it easier to steer your vehicle in a safe direction. This wouldn't be the case on a 2WD vehicle. But like every 4x4 owner you should also consider getting LED 4x4 driving lights, especially if you plan to go on nightly adventures.

Efficiency

One of the main reasons why you should go for 4WD LED lights is their unmatched level of efficiency. You are just not able to get as efficient of a light as an LED one. With proper 4x4 LED lights you will get better performance with lower power consumption. This leads to another great advantage of LED 4x4 driving lights, longevity.

Lifespan

The lifespan of 4WD LED lights is also something out of this world. Usually LED driving lights are able to last around 30,000 hours on average. With a lower power consumption and a long lifespan, you'd think that performance would suffer but not with LED lights.

Brightness

The brighter the lights the better the visibility you get out front. You will be pleased to know that LED 4x4 lights are one of the brightest you can get. Despite that, they don't suffer as much when it comes to power loss as they use up most of the power sent by the battery. But is getting the brightest LED lights you can find a good move?

Beam

While getting the brightest LED driving light has its advantages, this is only the case if the light has the corresponding beam pattern. There are two types of beam patterns you can go for a spot or flood. An LED light with a spot beam pattern will illuminate far away but a small area at that.

While a light with a flood beam pattern is going to illuminate a larger area it will only be able to do so at a close range. If you want a bit of both, then you can go with a light that has a hybrid beam pattern. These LED 4x4 lights allow you to switch between a flood and a spot pattern whenever you want.

Lumens

When it comes to how bright your 4x4 lights will be you have to take at the number of lumens they have on board. The higher this number is the brighter the light will get. As long as your lights illuminate well, you don't need to worry about having the ones with the highest lumen count. While lumens are a good way to determine if a driving light outputs a bright light it should not be something you should go by at all times.

Mounting

The place where you want to mount your LED 4x4 lights matters a lot. You don't want to get 4x4 lights that you can only put on your bullbar or bumper. Having the option to mount the lights on the bonnet or on top of your vehicle is a great plus. You can change their position whenever you need just make sure the lights you go for come with adequate brackets.

IP Rating

To keep your new LED 4x4 lights operational for a long time you also need to consider their water and dust-proof rating. This is the IP (Ingress Protection) rating which has a two-digit number next to it. The first number refers to the dust-proof levels and the latter to the waterproof levels of the lights. The higher the number is the better protected the lights are.

Lightbar

There are two options you can choose from when it comes to choosing 4x4 LED lights. The newer and most versatile option is the lightbar. This is a narrow housing at has numerous LED lights able to project any type of beam you want and illuminate a wide area at that. Although lightbars are not as affordable or as light as headlights, they are a great off-roading solution

Headlights

4x4 LED headlights, just like any headlights are able to provide better visibility only for the road. If you want to see what's in front of you or a tad further then headlights are your best solution. They are easier to mount and install than lightbars and they are not going to break the bank either.
